I believe in manifestation.
I also believe in spreadsheets, sending the email, making the phone call, changing your mind, trying again and occasionally realizing the thing you were trying to manifest wasn't actually what you wanted.
This is manifestation the way I practice it: getting clear about what I want, paying attention to what shows up, and being willing to do something when it does.
Manifestation, according to me
I don't believe wanting something badly enough means you're entitled to get it.
And I don't think every hard thing happened because you didn't think positively enough.
What I do believe is that getting clear about what you want changes the way you move through the world.
You notice things.
You recognize opportunities you might have missed.
You make different decisions.
You say yes faster. You say no sooner. You take the weird little opening that doesn't look anything like the plan you made.
And every once in a while, something happens with such ridiculous timing that even I have to look around and say, Okay. That was weird.
HOW I PRACTICE IT
01
GET CLEAR.
02
PAY ATTENTION.
03
MAKE a MOVE.
Not “I want more money” or “I want a better life.” What do you actually want? What would enough look like? What are you trying to create?
Once you know what you're looking for, you start noticing things you couldn't see before. Ideas. People. Invitations. Coincidences. Tiny openings.
This is the part manifestation sometimes conveniently leaves out. You have to do something. Send the email. Make the call. Apply. Ask. Leave. Begin.
You don't have to know exactly how it's going to happen. You do have to participate.
Storybook Hill started as a house.
At least that's what I thought.
What began as a Zillow search became a lesson in intuition, identity, grief, trust, manifestation, and what happens when you stop talking yourself out of the things you want.
The essays in this series were written in real time while I was living the questions myself.

This started as a house story. Somewhere along the way, it became a story about me.
