There was a season in my life where I lived on caffeine, cortisol, and sheer determination. You know the one—burnout in a cute outfit. People would ask how I did it all, and I’d half-joke, “Anxiety and espresso, baby!”

Here’s the gut-check question I return to again and again:
Does this energize me or empty me?
If your day is filled with shoulds instead of wants, your nervous system is going to be stuck in survival mode. But when you move in the direction of your values—creativity, connection, freedom, fun—your energy starts to return. Not all at once, but enough to remember who you were before you burned out.
Energy Reclamation Isn’t Sexy—It’s Sacred
Let’s normalize:
- Taking naps without apologizing
- Canceling things that cost too much energy
- Asking for help before you hit the wall
- Choosing the slower path if it keeps you whole
- Designing your work around your cycle, not the clock
