How to Spot It, Reset, and Realign with What Truly Matters

You know that feeling when you’re at a red light, and suddenly you wonder, How did I get here? Not in a deep, metaphorical sense, but literally—because you’ve been driving really don’t remember the drive. That’s kind of what misalignment feels like in life. One day you’re cruising along, thinking you’re killing it, and the next, you’re realizing you’ve veered way off the path to your intentions. Maybe it’s not as obvious as driving into a ditch, but trust me, the signs are there.

This month, I’m sharing three ways to spot misalignment, so you can hit the brakes, adjust your course, and realign with what truly matters. Bonus: no GPS required.

1. Your Habits Start to Feel Like a Chore

You set out to meditate every morning because, ya know zen and inner peace, but now it feels like a punishment. Instead of calming your mind, you’re spiraling into existential dread before coffee. Misalignment alert!

When habits start feeling more like ugh, do I have to? than wow, this is amazing, it’s time to check if they’re still serving your values. Reflect on why you started the habit in the first place. Maybe daily meditation isn’t your thing, but a 5-minute morning stretch? That could be your jam.

2. You’re Craving Change Like It’s a Bag of Chips at Midnight

Ever find yourself suddenly wanting to burn your to-do list, escape to the beach, or move to a cabin in the woods (but, like, a cute one with Wi-Fi)? That itch for change is often your intuition saying, Hey, something’s not working here.

Cravings for change don’t mean you need to flip your life upside down (unless you want to—I’m totally here for that…call me). They’re an opportunity to reflect. What value or goal have you been ignoring? What small tweak could make a big difference? Maybe you just need to trade your 47-task to-do list for a realistic top three priorities plan.

3. Your Gut Says No, but You Keep Saying Yes

Ah, the classic people-pleaser trap. You’re saying yes to every invitation, task, and random PTA request, even though your gut is screaming FUCK NO! Misalignment is sneaky like that—it shows up in your calendar and leaves you feeling resentful and drained.

Take a minute to reflect on your boundaries. Ask yourself, Is this aligned with my values, or am I doing it out of guilt or obligation? Pro tip: You’re allowed to say no. (I even have a mini-course for that!)

Reflect, Reset, Realign

Spotting misalignment doesn’t mean you’re failing; it means you’re paying attention. Life isn’t about staying perfectly on track—it’s about noticing when you’ve wandered, reflecting on why, and gently guiding yourself back.

So, what’s feeling off for you lately? Maybe it’s a habit, a routine, or a commitment that no longer sparks joy (thank you, Marie Kondo). Take some time to reflect, reset, and realign. And if you end up changing your life or starting a new morning routine because of this post, please tell me. I live for those updates.

Here’s to realigning with what truly matters—because life’s too short to stay in the ditch.
